Oracle buying Sun - what is going to happen to mySQL?      Aug 23, 2009, 09:08 1

Of course it's possible that Oracle will support it and keep it free but what if it doesn't? How is that going to affect the many, many sites that use mySQL? Is there a possibility that even continuing to use the free installs will be problematic?

I have mySQL on the home machine but my web hosts also have Apache/PHP/mySQL options. Will that change? Will they be charged and then pass on the charge to us?

This is, potentially, a disaster for many people. No?
